Now available where great audiobooks are sold! Awakened: The Quintessence: Crucible, book 1 by C.M. Carney is out now. I had the pleasure of working with C.M. Carney on this epic Cultivation novel this fall and the wait is finally over.

Aryc is the reluctant hero of this progression adventure set in a world where advancement is everything. Each spiritual artist in the world of Crucible is trying to progress their society by cycling Qi, growing stronger and more skilled each day. Aryc has always been a little different but on the day of his trials he finds out just how different he is. Could he be blighted or could he be blessed.

The world that Carney created is an amazing blend of Sci-fi and fantasy, Eastern and Western cultures, demigods and hellspawn that has something for everyone. He combines heart-wrenching losses with cheer-out-loud success to make this an incredibly compelling and engaging story. It combines my favorite game playing progression elements and cinematic adventure and setting to create a story that I was completely drawn into and felt a part of. There were times when narrating this one that I felt like I had a VR set on and could see the world of Crucible around me, as the author did such an amazing job creating the setting for this story. Carney struck a fine balance with the Progression/LitRPG mechanics that were just enough to see the tangible advancement of the character without drawing me out of the story with too much information.
